The initiators of the Berliner Initiative Studie
The Berlin Initiative Study (BIS) was conceived by nephrologists at the Charité and Friedrichshain Hospital. The study is carried out with colleagues from the nephrology department of the Charité Virchow-Klinikum, Charité Benjamin Franklin, the Friedrichshain Hospital and the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology and Applied Biometry at the University Hospital in Tübingen. Prof. Elke Schäffner from the Institute of Public Health at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin is the principal investigator.
